Talk to Purple Travel now about self-catered or all inclusive cheap Corfu holidays and save on flights, hotels and transfers.

Sidari

Sidari is a large and lively resort that is popular with families and couples for its stunning natural beauty that has remained largely untouched despite the resort's popularity. The long, sandy Blue Flag beach is backed by majestic sandstone cliffs. Sidari’s vibrant temperament is well endorsed with bars, clubs and restaurants offering a wide range of cuisines, which makes it a great destination for partygoers and family holidays alike. The beaches dotting the area around the resort such as Canal D’amour are stunning and definitely worthy of a visit if you decide to venture a bit further from the main beach where most all inclusive Corfu hotels and restaurants in Sidari are.

Kavos

What happens in Kavos stays in Kavos. This resort is not for the faint-hearted. You'll find 24-hour partying here if you choose it and it is undoubtedly Corfu's best party resort. A magnificent blue beach with golden sand is home to lots of Corfu hotels to choose from and the activities on offer are more than enough to keep you entertained during the day. Beach bars, boat parties and any form of partying in between is the norm and people usually go all out so grab your drinking hat and get your dancing shoes on for some Corfu holidays to remember.

Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa is one of Corfu's most beautiful resorts - think beautiful beaches and stunning scenic views. There's five stunning bays to take a dip in and a spectacular monastery that sits atop a cliff. The surrounding green hills are bejeweled with olive groves and citrus orchards, making this place a spectacle that has to be seen to be believed. Perfect for family holidays and couples looking for a relaxing, picturesque and romantic place to spend their holidays in Corfu.

Nature

It's well worth taking a trip to Perama, a tranquil area where a stroll on a mountain will take you through forests and olive trees. For a real adventure you can also discover secret mountain villages on a jeep safari through Mount Pantocrator while taking in fantastic views of the whole island. The stunning beaches of Halikounas and Chanel of Love are a must visit as beautiful green hills meet the clear blue sea, making you marvel at their natural beauty. Of course the rich and colourful sceneries are abundant and as such, the sights to see on your holidays in Corfu depend on how much time you spend to explore it.

Family Attractions

For something wild Aqualand is a hit with all ages - there's kamikaze chutes, adventure pools and floating rivers making for a great day out that's bound to wear out even the most energetic of youngsters. To learn more about Crete and its history head to Corfu Town and visit the Old Venetian Fortress, there's not only tunnels, bridges and secret passages but it's also a perfect spot for panoramic views of the Old Town. If instead, you fancy embarking with your young ones on an adventure you can rent a boat and explore the stunning shores and clear waters of the island. Teach your children how to sail and swim and why not, how to ride horses in Avlaki beach and make your holidays in Corfu a family event to cherish.

Nightlife

Kavos is definitely the place for nightlife on Corfu. There's a long strip of clubs and bars with enticing parties and drinks offers. Kavos is also home to Europe's biggest bar crawl, also known as "the Total Carnage Crawl" - the name itself should give you an idea of what to expect. The boat and beach parties are always on for those who like to start their session early and the party vibe around the area never ceases to amaze. For something a little less manic, Sidari is a good choice for bars and karakoke but also for more traditional Greek nights. A good crossover for family holidays with a little extra something to keep the parents entertained.

Food & Drink

Corfu's interestingly multicultural past has certainly had an influence on its cuisine. You'll find the usual Greek dishes here but some local ones too like sofrito (fried meat with garlic, vinegar and parsley) and pastitsada (beef and macaroni in red sauce). The tavernas around the island serve fresh fish from the Ionian Sea and the all-time favourites of Greek salad and Gyros can also be found throughout.

Spring through to autumn is the best time to visit Corfu. Head here in the spring when temperatures start to rise and to see the greenery and colourful flowers come into bloom and also for a quieter atmosphere. For just beaches and sea then June to September is the most popular time to visit, temperatures on some days can soar to 40C in July and August but normally remain in the low 30s.

Carnival

The Corfu locals take a chance to indulge before Lent begins with a Venetian style Carnival that always ends with lots of dancing and partying. Dress up and get lost in the party atmosphere overtaking the island while giving your Corfu holidays a colourful and funky twist.

Easter

Holy Week is celebrated here in full force and is more religious than you would find back home. It's a true family affair with church services and special local events. The marching bands lead a procession through town, ending with a ritual which involves smashing large pots in the streets. The feasts taking place on Easter Sunday are a spectacle so if you are lucky enough to get invited be sure that you’ll have the time of your life.

Varkaola Festival

In August, a recreation of a boat fight takes place in the waters around Paleokastritsa in commemoration of Saint Spyridon saving the island from the Turkish siege that took place in 1716. Following the boat battle, a fireworks display lights up the sky and people cheer, eat and drink.

Festivals

Throughtout July and August you will find numerous summer festivals all over the island as well as Philarmonikes, traditional marching bands who play regular performances on the weekends during the summer. Keep an eye out for posters of those locally organised events and make sure you join the fun if you happen to be around. Dancing, eating and drinking are the main line of these open air events, making your holidays in Corfu even more of an event to remember.
