Holidays from Bristol Airport this year

Amazing journeys start with cheap holidays from Bristol Airport. That’s what they say and we totally agree! Bristol’s a great link to destinations all over Europe and well beyond. Whether you’re going on a girlie break, taking your other half for a week in the sun, or bringing the kids for an adventure, Bristol is a great place to start your trip.?

For your summer holiday 2014, there’s a whole load of holiday hotspots on offer. You can fly to Mexico, go skiing in Bulgaria or Switzerland, or head for the sunshine in Turkey or Greece. There are also plenty of stops closer to home; Barcelona, Rome and Madrid make for fantastic city breaks.?

As well as those there are direct flights to major travel hubs in Amsterdam and Paris so you can go a little further afield if you like and connections with Brussels will take you all over Africa. Daily connections to the US via Dublin, makes for a straight forward and easy customs and immigration process too.?

Here are a couple of our top choices for some sun, sea and sand in summer 2014.

Malta

The quiet, pretty beaches of Malta make for an ace holiday just a few hours from the UK. The beaches are to die for, with sparkling jewel coloured weather and perfect, white sand. The weather of course is winning, so it’ll be ideal if you’re looking for a relaxing summer break. The little winding streets of the capital Valletta are filled with bars, cool boutiques and eateries and are almost made for drifting strolls hand in hand. It’s become a kind of chic hotspot for a quick break, or a longer more relaxed few days in the almost guaranteed sunshine. Malta’s got a deep cultural history and you’ll be able to see influences from Italy, North Africa and the Arab world all existing in harmony.
And to top it all off, you’ll be rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous. One of our favourite parts of Malta is that it always looks a bit familiar… Didn’t I see that church bell somewhere, or that nice plaza, is that Brad Pitt in a skirt? Turns out yes on all counts! Malta’s been a top choice for top Hollywood producers for filming their epic masterpieces (and flops!) Historical epics like Alexander, the Count of Monte Cristo, Casino Royale and Gladiator were made in different locations across the island.

Sardinia

Looking to get away from it all in an utterly gorgeous place? Well, we want to let you in on a little secret called Sardinia. Perfect for solo travellers, or couples on the hunt for hidden beaches, this island is close to home but feels worlds away. The beaches are just gorgeous, with plenty of hidden coves and huge expanses of soft sand to laze on.
On the other hand there are plenty of things going on, if you want to combine a beach get away with something a little more adventurous. Yoga and hiking tours are popular, while wine tasting and diving are always on our agendas.
In the north of the island you’ll find millionaires and their friends, the billionaire’s hanging out on their yachts and comparing sizes (!) In fact they are not just yachts, but mega yachts and the streets are lined with brand name boutiques. Maybe better for a day or two to people watch, instead of a whole week or two!

Alicante

There are some great deals to nab this year and one of our favourites has to be to Alicante. You can spend a week or two exploring the beautiful Costa Blanca and Murcia areas dotted with charming villages, palm tree lined streets and breathtaking beaches.
Or you could bunk down in a villa, for long, lazy days on a sun terrace or by the pool and spend a day or two in some of the water parks that will certainly impress even the pickiest little ones. There are castles, churches and ancient sites to beat the band, while Alicante has a vibrant nightlife and plenty of cultural highlights, we like the Elx Mystery Play, a drama re-enacted in the Casilica de Santa Maria in the town every August.
