Last Minute Holidays from Gatwick Airport
Let us help give you some ideas on where to go for your next holiday. Gatwick Airport is the starting point for flights all over the world.
It’s no secret that here at PurpleTravel HQ we are big fans of Gatwick Airport, having blogged a little bit about them before. We love their story corner idea, where they’ve partnered with Soundcloud to offer audio books for children and their Instameet, where instagrammers gather to take a few snaps. And of course that’s before you even get to their tip top restaurants, eateries and shopping. All in all, Gatwick is a pleasure to fly from, so why not pack your backs and head for this lovely airport and get moving.?
You can always tweet them for more info @GatwickAirport but for now, here are some of our favourite destinations this week from Gatwick:
Cheap holidays to Aruba? There are great flights direct from Gatwick to this Caribbean gem where the pace of life is so slow it’s practically horizontal. Not only will you find one of the top beaches in the world, Eagle Beach and Palm Beach but the food, drinks and atmosphere will give you an unforgettable time. We reckon October is the best time to go. Not only will you get a chance to top up your tan, but you’ll find the wonderful 6th Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival. Home to an impressive line-up of international and local musicians, you can let the Latin rhythms take you away.?
For somewhere a little closer to home, how about a few days in the historic capital of the Czech Repbulic? Prague has a wonderful old world feel to it, with cobbled streets and the old castle beaming over the city. We think a tour of the beer halls is a great idea, while you soak up the atmosphere. At night, there are tonnes of clubs so you can sample the nightlife like a local. And it’s just a few hours away, perfect for a quick and maybe surprise getaway.?
If it’s a totally laidback beach holiday, the Maldives is another great choice. With a couple of direct flights from Gatwick, you’ll find this tiny string of stunning islands beautifully unspoilt. Think white sandy beaches, your own private stairway into the ocean, amazing diving opportunities and one of the most romantic places on earth. It sounds, to us, like it’s perfect for a honeymoon, so, why not start your journey in Gatwick??
We love the hustle and bustle of Istanbul. It’s a cultural melting pot that sits right on the connecting line between Asia and Europe. A visit to a hamam or Turkish bath is a must, while the walking tours around the city will give you the chance to check out mind-blowing churches, mosques and museums. Flying direct from Gatwick means you’ll be there in no time!
