Are you looking to combine some sunshine with a bit of ancient history? Well we think there is no better place for that than beautiful Egypt. You’ve seen the pictures; pyramids soaring against clear blue skies, and endless, sandy beaches lapped by crystal clear waters. But, as we all know, nothing really beats being there in person.

With that in mind, we’ve had a quick peek at some awesome activities that make your holiday to Egypt extra special.

Adventure in Hurghada

One of our favourite ways to explore Hurghada is by submarine. Yes, we did say submarine! Hop in for an underwater tour of the colourful coral and vibrant fish you’ll only see 20 yards under the sea.

If staying on dry land is more your thing, then a desert safari is the one for you. You’ll be guided into the heart of Bedouin territory at sunset and you’ll picnic under the stars for a truly memorable experience.

Stunning Sharm

Egypt has long been seen as the cradle of civilisation and that’s nowhere more evident than in the land surrounding Sharm. One of the most breathtaking activities is surely an overnight visit to Mount Sinai, where Moses was presented with the Ten Commandments. It starts after midnight and finishes with an awe inspiring sunrise.

Why not go a little further with a visit to St. Catherine’s, one of the oldest Christian monasteries in the world. There you’ll see the ancient burning bush of Moses, the mosaic of transfiguration and small chapels and displays that dot the landscape.

A visit to the Ras Mohamed National Park is next if you fancy catching up with some jewel coloured fish on a magical diving adventure, or you could simply top up your tan on the sun deck.

Haggling in Dahab

Of course, souvenirs are always a must from any holiday and Egypt offers you the chance to brush up on your haggling skills. The Bedouin village of Dahab has everything you’d want, from shoes, scarves, jewellery and papyrus prints. Plus a little hint for you, it’s a bit cheaper, so you can definitely stock up here.

Those are just a couple of hints on what to do in Egypt this year. Do you have any other ideas? We’d love to hear them in the comments below.
